Social Service

As Muslims, each of us is charged with the mission to help our needy brothers and sisters. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said "He who finds relief for one who is hard pressed; God will make things easy for him in the Hereafter." Today, as we look to our own community, there are needy and homeless Muslims, and you have the opportunity and power to help them.

ICNA Relief is an organization which strives to accurately represent Islamic values and compassion, serving humanity regardless of race, religion, or culture according to the guiding principles of Islam. Kansas City chapter has been actively involved in helping the local needy families with its limited resources....

Feed the Hungry Program

"(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'we feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks." ( Quran, 76:8-9)

In many ways, America is the land of plenty but Hunger is also a reality for many Americans, even in our own backyards. People in every community face the risk of going hungry. 49 million Americans struggle with hunger, including 17 million children. (http://feedingamerica.org).

ICNA -Relief Kansas City has been organizing Feed the Hungry program from May 2009. Frequency of this program is every other week. Muslims are encouraged to invite and share the great value of their beliefs with others and to fulfill the rights of their neighbors, colleagues and friends throughout their life.

Prophet Muhammad (s) mentioned the rights of neighbors upon a Muslim in this eloquent narration “The rights of the neighbor is that, when he is sick you visit him; when he dies, you go to his funeral; when he is poor you lend him (money); and when he is in need you protect him.”

It is this reason why the volunteers of ICNA Kansas City devote their time and energy to fulfill their obligation and serve the community at large. It is our desire to fight against human sufferings, by assisting our neighbors in achieving basic needs that all human beings are entitled to

Temporary Shelter for Women

ICNA Relief Kansas City is working to establish a shelter for homeless women.

This shelter will provide an alternative for women in need of shelter care. Goal is to provide women with a safe environment, allowing them the opportunity to maintain their dignity while working on issues of self sufficiency.

ICNA Relief USA New York shelter has housed over 60 women. Due to the need for shelter care which is Islamically sensitive, we have opened a second shelter in Houston, TX, with plans to open additional shelters in major metropolitan areas.
